Day 4

Well, day 4 plus some!

I am now returned from the Seychelles having had a fantastic time. One word of warning- do not, as a single male, holiday with 2 females as they just bitch about each other to you. I went with my sister and her friend, made considerably worse by the fact that my sister's friend is an incesant moaner.

You get ants in England, and the ones in the house were no big or more deadly, yet they were moaned about. And you'd think she was the only person ever to have been bitten by a mosquito! EVERY time she was bitten we all heard about it, along with updates on the swellings. It was a blessing when, on the penultimate day, she suffered a migraine- no doubt relating to one of her many (and oft mentioned) alergies. Unfortunately for my sister this involved here being a five-minute nurse in that she was called to the bedroom every five minutes to tell people to shut up or to pour a little water in her mouth or whatever. My sister lost patience though when disembarking the airplane. You would have thought that her friend- still suffering- would have wished nothing more than to put a move on to get home to her bed, but apparently not. She took a good 15 minutes to get off the 'plane, much to the exasperation of the passengers behind her. Then- on being freed and rushing to pass her- they occassionally and gently brushed against my sister's friend which caused further stoppage. My sister took the same view as I: if she's not going to help herself at all, neither should anyone else.

I'm not unsympathetic. I know people suffer migraines with varying degrees of effects, and whilst I've been fortunate never to suffer with migraines I've had some stinker headaches. But she did nothing to help herself at all- she wouldn't drink which is one of the reasons she may have induced the migraine in the first place; she wouldn't put any sort of a move on doing essential things, such as getting to the airport- still, not my problem any more.

My sister though, in all fairness, was very little trouble at all. There had been mild concerns from my mother that she would be a bit troublesome and that I would end up having to bite my tongue a lot but those incidents were few and far between (the only one I can remember was the one in a relatively nice restaurant where a waiter dropped a glass and she bellowed 'sack the juggler' but it was her first day drinking after a week on antibiotics.)

Beach was lovely. Went scuba diving for an afternoon- fantastic (after the initial panic of 'bloody hell I'm breathing underwater and I shouldn't be')- and also deep see fishing where a number of large fish were caught including the tuna which we ate the subsequent day (raw!). Also tried octopus curry- actually quite nice, a bit like chicken (!).

And so it is that, after landing about 11pm and arriving home around 3, that I got up at 6:30 to plod into work for the last day of the week. Somewhat embarrassingly the new Harry Potter had been sent to my office rather than my home! Actually quite glad I did. Aside from the fact that I keep a further day holiday till the end of the year I have had futher 'holiday merriness' in that many people popped into my office to see how it all went and to look at the digital photos and (after lunch) the underwater developed ones.

On arrival in the UK last night though I did text both the Ex and First Date. First Date was the first to respond (almost instantly!). In conversation though it transpired that First Date is kinda seeing someone now. I'm not actually that disappointed- I couldn't have expected a month-long delay like that and it was nice to have the honesty. We are to stay friends though as apparently I'm good to talk to which is good. Also good will be to have a few more friends to go out with as dating the Ex for 9 months nearly extinguished all my current friends as my Ex didn't really like any of my friends or indeed clubbing.

On the subject of going out, I have been in touch with my recently-single-friend who will be out on Saturday. Fantastic! Allows me tonight to recover and do little (except read some Harry Potter as one of the girls in the office wants to have a conversation with me about it on Monday), and then out tomorrow night now fully able to pull. Tomorrow though will be a bit more of a subdued evening as the big night of the month is the last Friday. Still, we couldn't go out on the Friday incase my recently-single-friend bumped into the recently-ex'd along with recently-ex'd's new bit of stuff (apparently a long way down the scale from my friend, but I've been telling my mate he was underated for ages). Could still be a tricky night out though!

My Ex did text back, though this morning. Relatively uneventful text mind. The Ex had been to Miami whilst I was away and apparently missed me loads. Why do hurricanes never hit right! (Incase any Karma or any sort is watching, or anyone thinks I was being malicious or nasty it is, of course, the last thing I would wish on anyone, least of all someone who I am trying to stay friends with).

Popped to the local college at lunch though to register for an evening A level in psychology- something I've been meaning to do for a canny wee while. Will have to have a wee interview but should be no problem.

And so the week ends...
