Well, day 4 plus some!
I am now returned from the Seychelles having had a fantastic time. One word of warning- do not, as a single male, holiday with 2 females as they just bitch about each other to you. I went with my sister and her friend, made considerably worse by the fact that my sister's friend is an incesant moaner.
You get ants in England, and the ones in the house were no big or more deadly, yet they were moaned about. And you'd think she was the only person ever to have been bitten by a mosquito! EVERY time she was bitten we all heard about it, along with updates on the swellings. It was a blessing when, on the penultimate day, she suffered a migraine- no doubt relating to one of her many (and oft mentioned) alergies. Unfortunately for my sister this involved here being a five-minute nurse in that she was called to the bedroom every five minutes to tell people to shut up or to pour a little water in her mouth or whatever. My sister lost patience though when disembarking the airplane. You would have thought that her friend- still suffering- would have wished nothing more than to put a move on to get home to her bed, but apparently not. She took a good 15 minutes to get off the 'plane, much to the exasperation of the passengers behind her. Then- on being freed and rushing to pass her- they occassionally and gently brushed against my sister's friend which caused further stoppage. My sister took the same view as I: if she's not going to help herself at all, neither should anyone else.
I'm not unsympathetic. I know people suffer migraines with varying degrees of effects, and whilst I've been fortunate never to suffer with migraines I've had some stinker headaches. But she did nothing to help herself at all- she wouldn't drink which is one of the reasons she may have induced the migraine in the first place; she wouldn't put any sort of a move on doing essential things, such as getting to the airport- still, not my problem any more.
My sister though, in all fairness, was very little trouble at all. There had been mild concerns from my mother that she would be a bit troublesome and that I would end up having to bite my tongue a lot but those incidents were few and far between (the only one I can remember was the one in a relatively nice restaurant where a waiter dropped a glass and she bellowed 'sack the juggler' but it was her first day drinking after a week on antibiotics.)
Beach was lovely. Went scuba diving for an afternoon- fantastic (after the initial panic of 'bloody hell I'm breathing underwater and I shouldn't be')- and also deep see fishing where a number of large fish were caught including the tuna which we ate the subsequent day (raw!). Also tried octopus curry- actually quite nice, a bit like chicken (!).
And so it is that, after landing about 11pm and arriving home around 3, that I got up at 6:30 to plod into work for the last day of the week. Somewhat embarrassingly the new Harry Potter had been sent to my office rather than my home! Actually quite glad I did. Aside from the fact that I keep a further day holiday till the end of the year I have had futher 'holiday merriness' in that many people popped into my office to see how it all went and to look at the digital photos and (after lunch) the underwater developed ones.
On arrival in the UK last night though I did text both the Ex and First Date. First Date was the first to respond (almost instantly!). In conversation though it transpired that First Date is kinda seeing someone now. I'm not actually that disappointed- I couldn't have expected a month-long delay like that and it was nice to have the honesty. We are to stay friends though as apparently I'm good to talk to which is good. Also good will be to have a few more friends to go out with as dating the Ex for 9 months nearly extinguished all my current friends as my Ex didn't really like any of my friends or indeed clubbing.
On the subject of going out, I have been in touch with my recently-single-friend who will be out on Saturday. Fantastic! Allows me tonight to recover and do little (except read some Harry Potter as one of the girls in the office wants to have a conversation with me about it on Monday), and then out tomorrow night now fully able to pull. Tomorrow though will be a bit more of a subdued evening as the big night of the month is the last Friday. Still, we couldn't go out on the Friday incase my recently-single-friend bumped into the recently-ex'd along with recently-ex'd's new bit of stuff (apparently a long way down the scale from my friend, but I've been telling my mate he was underated for ages). Could still be a tricky night out though!
My Ex did text back, though this morning. Relatively uneventful text mind. The Ex had been to Miami whilst I was away and apparently missed me loads. Why do hurricanes never hit right! (Incase any Karma or any sort is watching, or anyone thinks I was being malicious or nasty it is, of course, the last thing I would wish on anyone, least of all someone who I am trying to stay friends with).
Popped to the local college at lunch though to register for an evening A level in psychology- something I've been meaning to do for a canny wee while. Will have to have a wee interview but should be no problem.
And so the week ends...

Day 3
Sausages. Disappointed by the revelation that they were only chipolata. This also meant my waffles were cooked first.
Also- amusingly- within seconds of posting yesterday the Ex did text! More arsey than whiney though, saying how I didn't want us to be mates. A little bit of butter though makes it a lot easier. (NOT like that for the rude ones! I'm certainly not using butter for that- waste of butter for a start and that would cause the whining to start again from the Ex hahaha!). I just basically said how I did want us to be mates and enjoy the holiday.
Was on tinternet last night chatting to First Date. Well, I say chatting- it was bout 2 minutes then 'I'm off for a bath'. On return from the bath there was a further 2 minutes then 'such-and-such is on tv, see you later'.I'm in 2 minds whether or not to try popping round later- I'm all packed so got the time.
On the packing front, it's surprising just how little I'm taking. Having worries that I've forgotten things. Still, last day at work. Fortunately. It's been a bugger getting up the last couple of days. Not that tomorrow's any easier- getting up at 5. Don't need to but it's not a holiday if you're not up early. Actually I do need to.
Had to be a shoulder last night too. A good friend was also on tinternet and has recently been made single so I kept having to say how my friend was so much better (actually true) and how the ex was really evil (not actually really evil but we never really got on) and how moving on was the best thing. Of course moving on was the last thing on my mate's mind: getting back together was up there at the top but being as the ex is now seeing someone else it could be a little time. Shouldering duly done I disappeared off to bed.
Nearly done my record. Well, not nearly but I've started it and got enough done so that when I come back I can sort it out really quickly and easily. One of the middle figures (as in not senior, not secretary) is leaving, it was revealed today. The secretary pool (does sound good) is all a flutter as to reassignment. I will be due a secretary in a few months time so maybe, just maybe, the younger one will still be available.
Right, I have lilo and suncream (curses to those of you who were thinking 'stitch') and shall be away for 2weeks and a day (it'll probably work out to be 2 by the time I can updated this). Apparently my Ex- who is also on holiday at the same time as it was already booked off work for me- is flying into a hurricane. 2 lots of hot and blustery air!
Must sent that text....

Day 2
And along comes Tuesday, regular as ever...
Today is supposed to be topped off with first date (attempt 3). Not only do I not have first date, I also had no sleep, after being woken at 6am with a text from First Date telling me that first date would not be happening due to tiredness. [nb- from now on 'First Date' refers to the person (capitals for Proper noun) where as 'first date' refers to the actual (or at least proposed) date]
Needless to say the condition is catching. Apparently free texts finished at 7am, hence the early start! still, first date has now been rearranged for Friday 29th July- the day after I return from Seychelles and just over a month since first sex. Still, I take full responsibility for the first postponement, due to my tiredness, and I also have to take responsibility for the holiday. Well, I suppose it would be unfair to blame my brother for having organised his wedding so soon to first date. At least I have a little longer to pack.
Even then, first date won't really be first date. I think it's more a case that we'll happen to be out at the same time in the same place as my mates will be out and that's already kinda arranged. Still, I'll see how it goes...
Just been putting the finishing touches to the Best Man's Speech. It's terrible. Typical speech- corny jokes etc, and hopefully it'll work out at a dignified length as it's looking a little short at the min. Not really my fault, my brother just hasn't done much amusing. And it's difficult to keep it clean in front of the in-laws-to-be.
Must do my training record tomorrow. I'm supposed to fill it in weekly, only I've not done it for about a month now and if I leave it till I get back I stand no chance.
Not heard from the Ex for a few days now. In fact the last text was on Sunday denying whining, just being horny. It was whining. They all seem to be whining 'why can't we have sex' texts. If I get any more I'll just reply with 'I'm not having sex with you whilst I am with First Date'. Being as the revelation that I had a first date at all went down terranomically (new word in creation) I think that could finally sink the coffin. We're supposed to be staying mates- and I really would like to be mates- but if I'm just going to be getting whiny texts then I can cope without. To be honest I think the whiny Ex texts were related to First Date
And the great debate- curry or sausages for dinner???!

Day 1
I know, I've caved in.
Anyhow, thought I'd start this as I have to relay messages to everyone and this will be quicker.
Last week was hectik- REALLY mad in that I got at least 36 different trains, what with everything that happened. Was in Newcastle last weekend- a nice but uneventful one. Leeds throughout the week for a trial, which was also goo as I got to catch up with Susie not once but twice. I was supposed to have a first date on Thursday, but glands got in the way. Not mine fortunately! After the unfortunate knee incidents a couple of weeks ago I think glands are going to be a regular problem there!!
Anyhow, I was a bit gutted butt it did allow time for my recently acquired black-eye to subside. Nothing macho (though my boss did think it made me look 'butch' and he's married) just an injury with a door. I know- it's what battered wives say! I didn't walk into it, it came to get me.
On Friday, having been at court all morning I was supposed to be off to London to see a mate down there. Well, Friday was 7 July 2005 and as such trains were on a restricted service. That complied with the fact I'd left my wallet and keys at home made for a run-round afternoon, however I managed to get down. Walked off the train and into a sea of hi-vis jackets, with the occasional cameraman or journalist in there. On the way home on Sunday it had subsided slightly, and the first-aid post had given way to a flowerbed. Probably the most chilling part of the weekend was travelling on the tube to Camden Market- it had to pass through King's Cross, though without stopping. Everyone looked out of the train with a sobering silence down the walk-ways where the Underground-standard tiles had been blasted from the tunnel walls and ceilings.
Friday night we went out round King's Cross. It was very quiet to start with, then people obviously decided a drink was necessary and it busied up to not too far off normal. We had vouchers to get into the club free- saving £7; however the taxi cost us £7 each to get to the club in time to get in free.
Saturday was more eventful. Went ot a few bars first, the last of which had a tranny who poured shots down people's throats. Something for nothing I thought, expecting schnapps only to be burned with cold hard tequilla. Still, it's a tonic for a hardly soul. On leaving the same bar I bumped into my 'first date'. (if it were 'my first date' it could almost be a Tomy toy!). I had suspicions that the date was returning back to London from having been down the previous week to meet someone, and it wasn't helped that- despite the promise of 'I'll text you to let you know where I'll be'- no text was received during the night.
My spirits were slightly lifted however when clubbing and a school-attired pretty thing came up and chatted 'because someone had to make the move'. However these little highs are soon dashed down with the usual 'I'm just popping to the toilet' only to later find those lying little lips on someone else's mouth.
I have been convinced by Brian that it's because I wasn't local enough- on being told that I wasn't from London and I only pop down occasionally the response was 'Oh, you look so at home here and you seem to know your way around. I'm just popping to the toilet...' At home I may seem, however it suggests an amount of stalkerish tactics as it would be difficult to look lost on the basis purely of the club. Maybe I'd been followed all evening?!? All weekend??!? All WEEK- now that would take determination, not to mention so fast connections! However perhaps in this day some people are still looking for a long-term relationship. Shame!
Ah well, 'first date' has been rearranged for tomorrow, leaving very little time for packing- indeed just tonight, what I can grab of tomorrow evening, and a wee while on Wed evening, before having to get up at 5 on Thurs to fly. Still, it's not a holiday if you don't get up early. And my sister who is to chauffer will not be up at 5 either and will want to drive all the way down to Watford with the top down and loud dance music. Still, unlike Canute I'm not willing to get my feet wet and will bite my tongue for the sake of peace. The tongue that is already well bitten from just 3 days without the parents and already a bombsite......
